Memories of our journey together...
Dr. Joe first started his practice in 1985. There's been a few location changes, and many team changes along the way.
We've had many memorable moments here at Royal York Dental. We're an evolving organization, and we've covered a lot of ground over 20+ years.
There has been many happy times together. The following are a collection of snapshots from various team events and shared moments we've experienced. Some of the faces may have changed, as people have come and gone, but the spirit of our team lives on.
Enjoy!

Just another day at Royal York Dental - our theme was "Royalty"

Birthday Bashes |
|
Birthdays are a frequent celebration here at Royal York Dental. You'll often find us gathered at Sempres or one of many other fine local restaurants. We're very much like a family when it comes to special events such as this. This particular photo dates back to the late-90s. |

Taste of the Kingsway |
|
The Kingsway Business Assciation begam a Toronto West version of Taste of the Danforth. It has ben tremendously successful, drawing crowds of over 100,000. The team at Royal York Dental has setup display tables where we offer children free tattoos. Here's a picture of some paticipants basking in the hot sun.
Another free service we offered was Fantasy Photos. We took people's digital picture and with photo-enhancement software, we inserted their face onto a background photo. Here Dr. Joe reveals that he really hasn't changed much since birth.
One of our main responsibilities for the event has been to host VIPs. This included guest speakers, visiting dignataries, police, and firefigters. We offered food, drink, good company, and welcome relief from the blazing hot weather. |

Halloween |
|
Dressing up for Halloween has been a long tradition for Royal York Dental. We've had some imaginative themes for our team over the years. Cats, a baseball team, royalty, the movie Grease, angels and devils. (click photos)

Christmas |
|
Every Christmas we decorate to the hilt. Margherita is the master tree decorator. Our place is very visiblefrom the street and people enjoy our festive spirit. For a number of years we've raffled off a big prize package for children. It's a wonderful surprise for a lucky child. |

Open House |
|
During the Taste of the Kingsway Festival in September 2004, we hosted a 5-year anniversary celebration. It had been 5 years since the new building was built. We invited all our patients, and many came for a night of festivities that included light jazz and plenty of food and drink. |

Awards Ceremony |
|
A few times over the years we hosted a recognitions banquet to honour special contributions and welcome new members to RYD. This event was hosted in 2004 at Dr. Joe's house. Each team member was given a fleece top, a small gift, along with a small medallion. Mergherita and Karen were honoured for 10 years of dedicated service. |

Calling All 3 Year Olds |
|
One of the Dental Health Awareness efforts we've implemented at RYD was creating an event that introduced young children to the dental office. We hosted a party for children and parents that included a magic show and a chance to go for a ride in our dental chairs. In 2004 we hosted our 3rd rendition of this event, and much fun was held by all. |

New You Show |
|
We hosted a booth at the New You Show in March, 2003. Our booth drew lots of attention. We performed live demonstrations nvolving cosmetic "mock-ups" - simulations of porcelain veneer smile enhancements using resin bonding.
Here our doctors pose with celebrity look-alikes. We found out later they were female impersonators. From Lucy's expression you would think Dr. Joe's hands were busy where they shouldn't be. |

Ski Day |
|
Our annual March ski trip to Beaver Valley has been a blast. Our pot luck lunch has always been a highlight. This particuar year had Dr. Joe hobbling in crutches as he recovered from a knee operation. His comment was, "Skiing is safe, falling down is dangerous!" |

Dr. Joe's "oops" |
|
Dr. Bulger decided to give up his ski racing career after this little incident. He left work on a Wednesday evening to engage in some ski race training at North York. He called back an hour later to say that he had a skiing accident. Dr. Joe was forced to take an extended vacation from work, and now sets off metal detectors with these plates in his right arm. His skiing style has now transformed from "weekend warrior" to "old pedestrian." |

Transitions Day |
|
Dr. Joe worked twice with Transitions Group on systems and team development. This photo was taken at Montgomery Inn for one of our team-building sessions. Our team has certainly grown since that time. |

Santa Claus Parade |
|
As a member of the Rotary Club of Etobicoke, Dr. Joe has had the opportunity to participate in many interesting events. Here he joins fellow Rotarians to distribute toothbrushes during Etobicoke Lakeshore's annual Santa Claus Parade. David is dressed up as Mr. Molar and he was a big hit with the kids. |

Brush-a-mania |
|
Dr. Joe participated in another Rotary sponsered event called Brush-a-Mania. This involved visiting local Toronto schools to help introduce a brushing program. Dr. Joe visited 4 schools along with Miss Molar (Denise). She was definitely the star of the show. |

Arizona |
|
At RYD we emphasize continuing education. Dr. Bulger enjoys attending the annual ASDA meeting in the fall each year. In 2004 the meeting ws in Arizona, and Denise and Dr. Joe had a chance to visit some friends.
Behind Denise is a "jumping" cactus. The needles have little barbs on the end that will easily stick onto your clothes. If you walk by and brush against it, small pieces of cactus will seem to jump out at you. |

Presidential Gift |
|
One of Dr. Joe's fellow Rotary Club members was travelling to the Asia in December 2004 to receive a special award from the President of the Phillipines. These books by John Maxwell, which were also Christmas gifts for each RYD team member, were given to the President. She (the President) is a very big fan of John Maxwell, and she's actually mentioned in one of the books. |
